Ohio Moves Closer to Performance Evaluation for Teachers

HB 153 mandates a state framework for teacher performance evaluations by Dec. 31, 2011. The Ohio Department of Education is working with the State Board of Education to make it a reality and reaches out for public input.

Great Teachers Matter…as Ohio considers new ideas to reward the best teachers and encourage all teachers to continue to improve, Governor Kasich is reaching out directly to teachers to hear their own ideas for how best to make that happen. He wants to learn about new and innovative ways to evaluate, support, and reward teachers based on all the different ways of measuring progress.

Election-law repeal passes House…

House Republicans today moved to repeal their election-law overhaul, a move that could spark a lawsuit from Democrats and progressive groups who are unhappy that the move eliminates in-person early voting on the three days prior to the November election.
